Jahangir Almasi’s First Movie
Jahangir Almasi’s official entry into Iranian cinema came with Roots in the Blood (Risheh Dar Khun), directed by Sirous Alvand in 1984.
The film was a political drama centered on the struggle surrounding the capitulation law. Faramarz Gharibian played the leading role, while Almasi appeared as part of the film’s cast.
His entry into cinema came at a time when Iranian filmmaking was undergoing significant transformation. The 1980s became an important period for filmmakers attempting to balance political, social and cultural themes with the new circumstances of Iranian cinema.
Almasi subsequently appeared in a number of productions and gradually became one of the recognizable actors of the period.
