Jahangir Almasi: From Hezardastan and After the Rain to His Recent Financial Struggles
How Did Jahangir Almasi Start His Acting Career?
Jahangir Almasi began his serious theater career in Ahvaz in 1969, when he was still a teenager.
Theater became the foundation of his artistic education. Before becoming a recognizable film actor, he spent years working on stage and participating in theatrical groups.
In 1973, Almasi and Parviz Bashardost established the Ajideh Theater Group. His stage credits reportedly included productions such as Dead End, Sultan Mar, Death of the Peddler, Sisyphus and Death and Reblooming, Uncle Zanjirbaf and Death.
This theatrical experience gave Almasi an opportunity to develop acting techniques before he became widely known through Iranian cinema and television.
For an actor of his generation, theater was an especially important training ground. Many prominent Iranian actors developed their craft on stage before moving into film and television.
