Jahangir Almasi: From Hezardastan and After the Rain to His Recent Financial Struggles
Jahangir Almasi’s Childhood and Family Background
Jahangir Almasi’s early life was considerably different from the image of a Tehran-based celebrity that audiences might associate with him today.
Although he was born in Tehran, his father’s railroad employment meant that the family moved between different cities. Living in various parts of Iran gave Almasi an opportunity to encounter different regional cultures and communities.
His parents were reportedly from Zanjan and spoke Azeri. His father worked for the railroad, while his mother was a homemaker.
The experience of moving from city to city was particularly important during his formative years. He spent part of his adolescence in southern Iran, including Ahvaz, where his interest in theater developed more seriously.
Rather than entering cinema through a conventional acting school or a major film studio, Almasi gradually developed his artistic identity through theater and cultural activities.
