Javad Mojabi Funeral: Writers and Artists Gather to Say Goodbye to the Celebrated Poet and Critic

Javad Mojabi’s Early Life in Qazvin

Javad Mojabi was born in Qazvin, Iran, in 1939.

His early years were influenced by his family’s circumstances and his father’s employment. He spent part of his childhood in the Alamut region before returning to Qazvin for his later schooling.

Qazvin itself has a long and important cultural history.

Growing up in a city with strong historical and literary traditions, Mojabi developed an early connection to Iranian culture that later became central to his career.

He eventually moved to Tehran for higher education.

His university education initially focused on law.

He later continued his studies in economics and obtained a doctorate.

The combination of law, economics, journalism and literature gave him a broad intellectual foundation.

This interdisciplinary education would become relevant to his later career because Mojabi was never simply interested in literature as an isolated field.

His writing frequently engaged with society, politics, culture, history and human behavior.
