Javad Mojabi Funeral: Writers and Artists Gather to Say Goodbye to the Celebrated Poet and Critic
Javad Mojabi and the University of Tehran
Mojabi entered the University of Tehran in 1958 to study law.
The university was already one of Iran’s major intellectual institutions and became an important environment for a generation of writers, artists, journalists and intellectuals.
Although Mojabi studied law, his professional identity gradually moved toward literature, journalism and cultural criticism.
He later obtained a doctorate in economics.
The contrast between his formal education and his eventual career is significant.
His university studies gave him exposure to social and economic structures, while his literary work allowed him to explore the human and cultural consequences of those structures.
This combination helped create the distinctive intellectual quality of his writing.
