Hossein Taeb and the Basij
Taeb became increasingly prominent within the Basij during the 2000s.
In July 2007, he was reportedly appointed deputy commander of the Basij Resistance Force.
He subsequently became commander of the Basij in 2008.
His appointment came during a period of major structural change within the IRGC and Basij.
The Revolutionary Guards were developing provincial structures and strengthening coordination between regional IRGC units and Basij forces.
