Hossein Taeb’s Experience in Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence

One of the more interesting parts of Taeb’s career occurred outside the IRGC.

During the presidency of Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, Taeb reportedly worked within Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence.

According to Iranian media reports cited in biographical accounts, he served as an intelligence official in Qom and was associated with counterintelligence responsibilities.

Some reports state that he was known within the Ministry of Intelligence by the name Meysam or Hajj Meysam.

This period is important because it gave Taeb experience in a different branch of Iran’s security architecture.

The Ministry of Intelligence and the IRGC’s intelligence structures are separate institutions, although they can operate in overlapping areas.

Taeb’s experience in both systems later became an important part of his professional profile.
