Spectacular color pictures for the first time of Qajar women by Antoine Sorogin
His only daughter Marie, who managed the photography shop in the last years of Antoine Khan’s life, was able to get 696 pieces of glass from confiscation due to her friendship with Mohammad Reza Shah Pahlavi. These glasses and a number of photographs of Sorogin’s work were transferred to the American Presbyterian Church after his death and the closure of his studio. And in 1951, these works were given to the Smithsonian Institution in Washington and are now in the Freer Art Gallery. An exhibition of his photographs was held in that gallery in 1983.
