Reza Pahlavi’s family celebrated Nowruz with Farah Pahlavi
A special cloth called a sofreh is first placed on the table. Then seven traditional (food) items are arranged on top. It would include wheat, lentils or barley, dried fruit, garlic, apples, vinegar and flowers. Each item is a symbol of spring and renewal. Live goldfish are sometimes included on the table, as they symbolize new life. Other items include eggs for fertility, coins for prosperity and a mirror for reflection.
