Growing up against the backdrop of political upheaval and the Islamic Revolution, Qaani’s formative years were marked by a strong sense of nationalism and a desire to serve his country. He joined the IRGC shortly after its establishment in 1979, quickly becoming involved in military operations during the Iran-Iraq War (1980-1988).
