Is Bahareh Zanjani Babak Zanjani’s Sister?

The relationship between Bahareh Zanjani and Babak Zanjani is now supported by official U.S. Treasury documentation.

The Treasury’s July 24, 2026 announcement describes BZ Diamond FZCO as a Dubai-based dealer in natural and laboratory-grown diamonds managed by Zanjani’s sister, Bahareh Morteza Zanjani. The same announcement states that Bahareh herself was designated by OFAC for acting for or on behalf of BZ Diamond.

This is significant because older internet discussions about Babak Zanjani’s family often relied on photographs, social-media posts and secondary reports. The 2026 Treasury documentation provides considerably stronger evidence regarding Bahareh’s identity and her relationship with Babak Zanjani.

It is therefore reasonable to describe her as Babak Zanjani’s sister.

However, other personal details circulating online should be treated separately. For example, some social-media posts and websites have published different dates of birth and personal information about Bahareh Zanjani. The U.S. Federal Register lists Bahareh Morteza Zanjani with a date of birth of September 21, 1981, while some online posts have circulated different dates.

For that reason, a responsible article should avoid repeating an unverified date of birth simply because it appears on Instagram or another website.
