Tehran Today: Daily Life Continues as Iran-U.S. Tensions Escalate in October 2026

Misagh-2 Missile System Appears in Training Photographs

One of the more technically significant details in the supplied captions is the reference to the Misagh-2, an Iranian-made man-portable infrared-guided surface-to-air missile system.

The photographs reportedly show female participants seated behind a simulator associated with this system during weapons training in Tehran on October 12.

A man-portable air-defense system, commonly known as a MANPADS, is designed to engage certain airborne targets, particularly low-flying aircraft and helicopters. Infrared-guided systems generally use heat signatures to track targets.

The Misagh family is associated with Iran’s short-range air-defense capabilities. Its appearance in a training context places the photographs within the broader subject of Iranian defense preparedness.

Nevertheless, the caption identifies a simulator rather than establishing that live missiles were fired during the session. It would therefore be inaccurate to describe the photographs as evidence of an actual missile launch or combat operation.
