What Is Quds Day?

Origins of Quds Day

Quds Day, also known as International Quds Day, is an annual event held on the last Friday of Ramadan. It was established in 1979 by Ruhollah Khomeini, the founder of the Islamic Republic of Iran.

The day is intended to express support for Palestinians and opposition to Israeli control of Jerusalem, particularly the eastern part of the city, which Palestinians claim as the capital of a future state.
