Nicolás Maduro: From Bus Driver to President of Venezuela
Section 2: Rise to Power
Maduro’s political career gained momentum when he became a close ally of Hugo Chávez, the charismatic leader who transformed Venezuela’s political landscape. In 2006, Chávez appointed Maduro as Minister of Foreign Affairs, a position he held until 2013. During this time, Maduro became known for his strong anti-American rhetoric and close ties to Cuba.

His victory in the subsequent presidential election in April 2013 was marred by allegations of electoral fraud and irregularities. Despite these controversies, Maduro managed to consolidate power and maintain control over the government.
