John Cena and Shay Shariatzadeh Turn Heads at the Los Angeles Premiere of Coyote vs. ACME

What Is Coyote vs. ACME About?

Coyote vs. ACME is a live-action and animated hybrid comedy based on the famous Looney Tunes character Wile E. Coyote.

The basic premise is simple but clever.

For decades, Wile E. Coyote has used increasingly ridiculous ACME products in his attempts to catch the Road Runner. The products frequently fail, explode, malfunction or otherwise cause spectacular disasters.

The film asks a question that the classic cartoons never seriously explored:

What if Wile E. Coyote finally sued ACME?

That idea transforms the familiar cartoon rivalry into a courtroom comedy.

Wile E. Coyote becomes a plaintiff.

ACME becomes the defendant.

And Kevin Avery becomes the human lawyer attempting to prove that the corporation is responsible for the products that repeatedly caused the Coyote’s injuries and failures.

John Cena’s Buddy Crane represents the other side.

The result is a story combining courtroom comedy, road-trip adventure, live-action filmmaking and classic animation.

Will Forte Leads the Movie

Will Forte plays Kevin Avery, the lawyer who becomes involved in Wile E. Coyote’s case.

Forte is particularly well suited to the role because his comedy often combines awkwardness, sincerity and absurdity.

His character is not presented as an all-powerful superhero lawyer. Instead, Kevin Avery is an ordinary person who suddenly finds himself representing one of the most famous cartoon characters in history.

That contrast provides much of the film’s humor.

The movie’s supporting cast includes Lana Condor, who plays Paige Avery, as well as John Cena and other performers.

Forte recently discussed the extraordinary journey of the movie and described the process of getting it from a completed film to an eventual theatrical release as an emotional roller coaster.
