Hassan Pourshirazi is married to Mahnaz Afzali, a prominent Iranian actress and artist. Mahnaz was born in 1963 in Qasr Shirin, Iran. She holds a bachelor’s degree in art from the University of Tehran and completed a two-year acting course at the Anahita Art School in Tehran.

Mahnaz Afzali started her acting career in amateur theater in 1978 and entered cinema in 1986 with the film Report of a Murder Case, directed by Mohammad Ali Najafi. Their marriage has been a longstanding partnership, blending two artistic careers and raising a family together.
