When oil exports are constrained, access to foreign currency can become more difficult.
This creates a direct relationship between sanctions, oil exports and the exchange rate.
The more difficult it becomes for Iran to generate and repatriate foreign currency, the greater the pressure can become on the domestic currency.
Recent U.S. measures have specifically focused on Iran’s financial and energy-related economic networks.
