Rangers of the Islamic Republic Army Demonstrate Combat Readiness

Operating in difficult environments

One of the defining characteristics of ranger training is the ability to function across different types of terrain.

Ground forces may be required to operate in mountainous regions, open terrain, forests, deserts or urban environments. Each environment presents different physical and organizational challenges.

Training in varied environments allows personnel to become familiar with the practical difficulties associated with movement, observation and maintaining unit cohesion.

Terrain can affect visibility, mobility, communication and physical endurance. As a result, field exercises provide an important opportunity for personnel to experience conditions that cannot be replicated fully in conventional training facilities.

The ability to remain organized under changing environmental conditions is an important component of operational readiness.
