Ruhollah Razavi: The Kashmiri-Born Media Host Behind Time and the British Embassy Controversy

Ruhollah Razavi, widely known in Iranian media circles as “Soldier Ruhollah” (Sarbaz Ruhollah), is one of the controversial figures who has appeared in recent years on Iranian state media as a presenter, political commentator, and analyst.

Known for hosting the program “Time of Iran” (Zaman-e Iran) on the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB), Razavi became recognized not only because of his media presence but also because of his political views, criticism of Iran’s diplomatic policies, and his past involvement in radical student movements.

Unlike many Iranian television personalities, Razavi’s background is unusual. He was not born in Iran but in Kashmir, India, and migrated to Iran with his family during childhood. Over several decades, he moved from being a Kashmiri student interested in Iran’s revolutionary ideology to becoming a prominent figure in Iranian conservative media circles.
