Why did Homa Darabi set herself on fire in protest against the mandatory hijab?

He was fired from his position as head of the psychiatry department at Beheshti University (National) for not accepting the mandatory hijab. Throughout the 1957 years at the university and hospital, Homa Darabi insisted on not accepting the compulsory hijab, and according to her relatives, she even told the head of the hospital where she worked that she preferred death to wearing a veil.
