Remembering Parviz Davoodi: A Controversial Legacy in Politics and Economics

Political Career

Parviz Davoodi was an economist who became a heavyweight in politics after he was appointed as the Economic Deputy of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance by President Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani. This elevated him not only within political circles but also allowed him to apply his economic theories to real-world policy with success and criticism.

Davoodi rose to the position of First Vice President under Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, which he used as a platform for furthering their economic and political ideologies. During his time in office, Davoodi played a central role in most major policy-making decisions, including those related to Iran’s controversial nuclear program and international sanctions that isolated its economy from other nations.
