Morteza: A Journey of Love, Music, and Artistry
A Voice for Change: Morteza and the Iranian Green Movement
In 2002, Morteza founded the “Iran Culture House,” a cultural center aimed at bringing together the Iranian community in the United States. The Iran Culture House not only provided a space for artistic and cultural activities such as theater and music but also served as a platform for social engagement. Lectures and art classes offered within its walls allowed individuals to explore their creativity, connect with like-minded individuals, and foster a sense of unity within the Iranian diaspora.
In the wake of the 2009 presidential election in Iran, which sparked widespread protests and the formation of the Iranian Green Movement, Morteza emerged as one of the courageous artists using his music to amplify the voices of the oppressed. His bilingual song “Hamishe ba Neda” (“united for Neda”), a collaboration with prominent Iranian artists such as Dariush and Sattar, as well as international figures like Shohreh Aghdashloo, became an anthem of unity and resilience in the face of adversity.
