Follow your photographer’s direction on where to look. Looking directly into the camera has limited appeal and doesn’t work in a lot of cases. Look behind the camera, or into the eyes of the photographer. When asked to look a specific direction, have your eyes follow the direction your nose is pointing. Doing this produces a more honest and candid shot. It’s also perfect for picking up eye color and catching light in the image.
