Bahman Babazadeh’s Response
Bahman Babazadeh took to his Telegram channel to clear the air. He shared a photo of the album cover that includes Maryam Heydarzadeh’s name, suggesting that her involvement was publicly acknowledged. Babazadeh wrote, “Contrary to Maryam Heydarzadeh’s claim, her name appears in all physical and digital versions of the album released by Shadmehr Aghili and Mehsti. This was done in full compliance with legal and professional norms.”
Despite this, it appears that the issue isn’t simply about her name being credited. Heydarzadeh’s primary concern seems to revolve around financial compensation. She implied that while her name was included on the album, she had not been paid for the lyrics, which led to her accusation of “theft.”
What Does Heydarzadeh Mean by “Theft”?
While the use of the word “theft” is strong, Heydarzadeh may not be accusing Shadmehr and Mehsti of outright plagiarism. Instead, she seems to be pointing out a lack of payment for her contributions. This is a crucial issue in the music industry, where songwriters and lyricists often face challenges regarding fair compensation and recognition.
Though the public was aware that Maryam Heydarzadeh’s name was included on the album, the controversy has ignited a broader conversation about how songwriters are treated in the industry. For Heydarzadeh, the crux of the matter seems to be that Shadmehr Aghili and Mehsti failed to provide the agreed-upon payment for her work, a claim that she has not backed down from despite Babazadeh’s statements.
