JFK’s Final Moments: Colorized Documentary Reveals Untold Stories
Remembering the First Lady: The colorized documentary not only delves into the tragic events but also highlights the popularity of the First Lady, Jacqueline Kennedy, during that time. Peggy Simpson, the only female Associated Press journalist in Dallas, shared her unique perspective. Assigned to cover the dinner event Kennedy was supposed to attend, Simpson found herself witnessing history in an unexpected way.
Embedded in Tragedy: After getting her hair done for the dinner, Simpson went to view JFK’s motorcade, only to return to her office and learn about the tragedy. From that point forward, she was instructed to embed herself with the police, becoming an eyewitness to Lee Harvey Oswald’s shooting by Jack Ruby two days later.
A Different Documentary Approach: The producers, Alex Nicholson and Charlotte Rodrigues, aimed to offer a unique documentary experience. For them, it was about capturing the emotions of ordinary people caught in a tragic moment. The decision to exclude a narrator and rely on first-person testimonies alongside archival footage adds a pure and immersive element to the storytelling.
