F-5E Tiger 2/Lightning:

This fleet includes indigenous Saegahs and American-made F-5E fighters. Their domestic production amounted to creating just eight Saegah, while they had earlier purchased seventeen F-5Es for strategic purposes in relation to air defense within its territory by IRIAF.

The F-14 Tomcat became famous for being portrayed in the movie “Top Gun,” where it was bought from the United States. Iranian pilots scored remarkable successes with this plane during the Iran-Iraq war, boasting an impressive kill ratio. There are still 26 units flying, and these F-14 Tomcats form an integral part of Iranian air defense tactics.
