Celebrating Delkash: The Lady of the Golden Throat of Music

Noteworthy Achievements and Artistic Expansions
One of the hallmarks of Delkash’s illustrious career was her foray into cinema during the late 1920s. Her role in the film “Shame” marked an important transition as she not only starred in movies but also contributed her singing to their soundtracks, enriching the cinematic arts with her musical talent. With memorable performances of songs such as “Ranajan” and “Jam Tala,” she helped redefine the relationship between music and film in Iran.
Delkash’s pioneering explorations didn’t stop at film; she was one of the first Iranian female singers to perform two-part pieces. Notably, her rendition of “Rubaiyat Khayyam” with Gholamhossein Banan in 1947 showcased her innovative approach to music during this significant period of Iranian culture.
Her ability to compose music under the pseudonym “Niloufar” also reflected her multifaceted talent. Though her main acclaim was for her singing, she contributed numerous compositions that enriched the Iranian musical repertoire, highlighting the important role of women in the arts.
