Unveiling the Powerful Legacy of Benjamin Netanyahu and His Family
Education and Academic Pursuits
Following his military service, Benjamin Netanyahu pursued higher education in the United States. He enrolled at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 1972 to study architecture. During his time at MIT, he excelled academically and demonstrated impressive efficiency, earning both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in a shorter timeframe than usual. His achievements at MIT showcased his intellect, drive, and determination.
Additionally, Netanyahu sought to continue his education with a doctorate in political science, but tragedy struck when his older brother, Yonatan, was killed during Operation Entebbe in 1976. Yonatan, the commander of Sayeret Matkal, sacrificed his life to save hostages during the daring rescue mission in Uganda. This devastating loss halted Netanyahu’s doctoral aspirations, and he returned to Israel to set up an anti-terrorism institute in his brother’s memory.
