Barbara Walters, a First Among TV Newswoman and Shah interviewer, Is Dead at 93
Walters was known for “personality journalism” and her “scoop” interviews. In November 1977, she landed a joint interview with Egypt’s president, Anwar Al Sadat, and Israel’s Prime Minister, Menachem Begin. According to The New York Times, when she went mano a mano with Walter Cronkite to interview both world leaders, at the end of Cronkite’s interview, he is heard saying: “Did Barbara get anything I didn’t get?”
