He had a significant impact on Iranian football, both as a player and as a coach. During the 1970s and early 1980s, whenever Iran was playing internationally, he would play an important role as a skilled midfielder, representing his country. He remained consistent at the club level, especially when playing for Homa FC. He also had a stint in Europe with FSV Salmrohr in Germany, where he managed to score 10 goals in thirty games.
Alidoosti retired from coaching after he left active football, taking on managerial roles in Iranian soccer.
