Young Rollerbladers Compete in Southern Tehran as Extreme Sports Event Brings Tehran Youth Together
Skateboarding in Tehran
Tehran’s large urban environment presents both opportunities and challenges for skateboarders.
Dedicated facilities can provide safer and more appropriate spaces for practicing tricks and technical movements.
Extreme sports parks are particularly valuable because they can bring together athletes from different disciplines.
At Navid Extreme Park, skateboarders shared the environment with BMX riders, rollerbladers and parkour athletes.
This creates an atmosphere where participants can observe different styles of athletic movement and potentially become interested in disciplines beyond their own.
Parkour Athletes Prepare for Competition
Parkour was another prominent discipline at the event.
Photographs from Navid Extreme Park show Iranian spectators watching a male participant warming up before taking part in a parkour competition.
Parkour is a movement discipline centered on efficient movement through physical environments.
Participants may use running, jumping, climbing, vaulting and other techniques to navigate obstacles.
Unlike sports based primarily on equipment, parkour places the athlete’s body at the center of the activity.
It requires strength, agility, balance, spatial awareness and control.
