Architectural and Artistic Inspiration: A Fusion of Faith and Modernity

The “Holy Mary” Metro Station’s design is a testament to the innovative use of religious symbolism in public architecture. The station’s aesthetic draws heavily from Christian church architecture, incorporating elements such as vaulted ceilings, stained glass-like murals, and religious iconography.

Tina Tarighmehr, the talented artist behind the station’s murals and artistic installations, explained her vision: “Every detail you see in this station is designed so that when someone passes through here, they understand that our goal was to respect other religions, especially Christianity.” Her work includes depictions of Mary praying with her eyes closed, with a white dove flying above her—a universal symbol of peace and the Holy Spirit.

Another mural depicts Jesus Christ watching over passengers, reinforcing themes of protection, spirituality, and divine presence. These artistic elements serve as silent ambassadors of religious harmony, promoting understanding and tolerance in a country with a predominantly Muslim population.

The station’s architecture features arched ceilings reminiscent of Gothic cathedrals, and the use of light and color mimics the ethereal quality of stained glass windows.
