The August 30 photographs demonstrate how public space can become a place where national identity is expressed.

Iranian flags appear prominently during the rallies.

Supporters gather together.

Political portraits dominate parts of the streetscape.

These images create a strong sense of national symbolism.

But public identity is rarely one-dimensional.

Tehran contains millions of people with different political views, social backgrounds, economic circumstances and personal experiences.

A photograph of a pro-government rally therefore should not automatically be interpreted as representing all Tehran residents.

Instead, it represents the participants captured in that particular moment.

This distinction is essential for responsible Iran news photography and Tehran street photography.
