Tajrish Bazaar Struggles: Slow Economic Growth Amid Iran–Israel War
Rising Prices and Inflation
War often leads to economic instability, and Iran is no exception. Supply chain disruptions, currency fluctuations, and sanctions have contributed to rising prices.
At Tajrish Bazaar:
- Food prices have increased significantly
- Imported goods are becoming scarce
- Local products are also affected due to higher production costs
Customers are spending more but buying less, creating a challenging environment for both buyers and sellers.
Impact on Small Businesses
Small businesses are the backbone of Tajrish Bazaar, and they are among the hardest hit.
Many दुकानदार (shopkeepers) operate on thin margins. With declining sales and rising costs, sustaining operations has become increasingly difficult. Some have had to lay off workers, while others are considering closing their shops permanently.
A carpet seller in the market shared that sales have dropped by nearly 50% since the conflict escalated. “People are thinking about safety, not carpets,” he said.
