Shooting Training Session for Young Women: Air Rifle Training and the Growing Role of Women in Sport

Iranian Female Shooters at the Olympic Games

Iranian women have competed in shooting at the Olympic Games, contributing to the country’s presence in international women’s sports.

At the Rio 2016 Olympics, Golnoush Sebghatollahi competed in women’s shooting events. Her participation was part of a wider Iranian women’s Olympic delegation.

Iranian shooting has also produced internationally recognized athletes in both rifle and pistol disciplines.

The development of younger female trainees is important because Olympic-level competition requires years of preparation.

Athletes must develop technical consistency, competition experience, physical conditioning and psychological resilience.

For that reason, an ordinary training session in Tehran can be viewed as one small part of a much larger pathway from youth sport to international competition.
