Hope in the Ruins: The Resilience and Quiet Courage of Women in Tehran During War

Sara: A Mother in the Middle of Chaos

Sara has two children. Her home was partially destroyed, and now they stay with relatives in a crowded apartment.

Her daily routine is a constant balancing act:

  • Finding food
  • Keeping her children calm
  • Listening for updates about safety

But she also does something else—something less visible.

She protects her children’s sense of normal life.

She tells them stories before sleep.
She makes simple games out of limited resources.
She smiles—even when she is exhausted.

Her children do not fully understand the war.

But they understand her presence.

And that presence becomes their stability.
