Natalie Harp: Who Is Trump’s Trusted Aide and Why Did Her Name Become Controversial?

Why Is Natalie Harp Called the “Human Printer”?

The nickname “Human Printer” is probably the most recognizable description associated with Natalie Harp.

The story goes back to Trump’s post-presidential period at Mar-a-Lago.

Trump has long preferred printed material, and Harp reportedly adapted herself to that preference. While accompanying him, particularly during golf, she would use a portable printer to produce articles, social-media posts, messages and other material that she believed Trump wanted to see.

A 2022 Vanity Fair report described Harp accompanying Trump on the golf course with a laptop and printer, providing him with articles and online material.

The arrangement was unusual because the material was not simply being printed by an ordinary administrative office.

Harp was reportedly selecting and curating much of what Trump received.

That distinction matters.

Printing something is an administrative task.

Deciding what gets printed is an information-filtering task.

And when the person receiving the information is the president, information filtering can become politically significant.

Michael Wolff later described Harp as Trump’s “good-news printer,” portraying her as someone who supplied him with favorable information and became increasingly involved in the information environment surrounding him.

This is the foundation of the “Human Printer” nickname.

It was not simply that Harp carried a printer.

It was that the printer became a symbol of her role as a personal information pipeline to Donald Trump.
