The international story of Moragheb began in earnest at Venice.
The film was selected for the Orizzonti section of the 83rd Venice International Film Festival, one of the festival’s official competitive sections dedicated to contemporary cinematic forms and emerging artistic voices.
Its official public screening took place on September 3, 2026, at Sala Darsena in Venice. The official festival program lists Mohsen Gharaei as director, with a screenplay by Gharaei and Amirmohammad Abdi.
The film’s international title, Falling House, is especially appropriate because the story is built around both a literal and metaphorical collapse.
A physical house is about to disappear.
A family is beginning to break apart.
A father is losing his authority.
A daughter wants to leave.
And the social structures surrounding the characters are becoming increasingly oppressive.
The result is a film in which the destruction of a building becomes a metaphor for the destruction of a family’s sense of security.
