A Warm Welcome: Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Hosts Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in Al-Ula

In the weeks following the landmark meeting in Al-Ula, both nations began to mobilize their resources to turn the discussions into actionable initiatives. The enthusiasm from leadership trickled down to various sectors, igniting interest among business communities and cultural institutions in both Italy and Saudi Arabia.

Establishing Joint Committees

To facilitate this collaboration, both sides agreed to establish joint committees focused on specific sectors: trade and investment, cultural exchange, education, and sustainability. These committees would be responsible for outlining key projects, identifying potential partners, and setting timelines for implementation. This structured approach would ensure that the ambitious goals discussed during the summit were transformed into tangible results.

Business Delegations and Trade Missions

In response to the discussions around economic cooperation, both nations planned the first series of bilateral trade missions. The Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized a delegation of business leaders in renewable energy, technology, and fashion to visit Riyadh for meetings with Saudi counterparts. Simultaneously, the Saudi government coordinated to send a delegation of businesses focused on real estate and tourism to Milan, aiming to explore partnerships that could benefit both economies.

Cultural Festivals and Educational Exchanges

Cultural institutions in Italy and Saudi Arabia began organizing a series of festivals aimed at celebrating their respective heritages. The Italian Cultural Institute in Riyadh announced plans for an Italian Festival, which would feature exhibitions of Italian art, cinema screenings, and culinary tastings. In turn, Saudi cultural organizations planned to showcase Saudi art and music in Italy, allowing for a stronger cultural footprint in both countries.

Education emerged as another critical area for collaboration. Italian universities recognized the potential for academic partnerships with Saudi institutions, particularly in fields such as engineering, environmental studies, and art history. Scholarships for students to study abroad—particularly at renowned institutions in Italy—were discussed as a way to strengthen these educational ties.
