Mahmoud Basiri: The Veteran Actor Whose Resemblance to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Changed His Career

Early Theater Experience

In addition to cinema, Basiri explored stage performance. His first notable theatrical appearance came in the mid-1960s when he participated in the play Chicago Train in Tabriz.

Theater demanded different skills from film acting. Live audiences required stronger vocal projection, greater physical expression, and precise timing. Performing on stage broadened Basiri’s artistic experience and helped refine the discipline that would later become visible in his television work.
