Margins of the Children and Young Adults Film Festival in Isfahan: Highlights From Day Two

The Festival’s Broader Cultural Mission

The 2026 edition has also placed emphasis on social themes.

The festival opened with a special ceremony at the Golestan-e Shohada cemetery in Isfahan, where organizers paid tribute to child and teenage victims and remembered those killed in recent conflicts. Reports said that around 117 submitted works addressed the 12-day war and related defense themes, with some included in the competition.

The festival’s official theme also includes a focus on Minab, with a special award dedicated to the children associated with the Shajareh Tayyebeh school in Minab.

This demonstrates how contemporary Iranian children’s cinema can intersect with national, social and historical themes.

From Film Screenings to Cultural Dialogue

A modern children’s film festival is not simply a sequence of movie screenings.

It is a meeting point for filmmakers, children, families, journalists, critics and cultural institutions.

The second day in Isfahan illustrated this broader model.

The presence of artists at the Martyr Khamenei International Conference Center allowed young audiences to see the people behind the films.

The participation of young reporters provided another perspective on the festival.

The involvement of child and teenage jurors gave young people an active role in evaluating cinema.

Together, these elements transform the festival from a conventional film event into a participatory cultural experience.
