Damage at Boroujerdi Residential Complex, Tehran: War Aftermath, and Reconstruction Challenges
The Scale of Destruction in Boroujerdi Complex
The Boroujerdi residential complex was designed as a dense urban housing area, accommodating hundreds of families. Following the March 4, 2026 strikes, large sections of the complex were either completely destroyed or left structurally unstable. Entire apartment blocks collapsed, while others remain standing but unsafe for habitation due to cracked foundations, exposed support structures, and severe fire damage.
Walking through the area now, the physical environment reflects the intensity of the strikes. Concrete slabs are piled on top of each other, staircases lead nowhere, and fragments of everyday life—furniture, books, clothing—are scattered across the debris. The destruction is not limited to buildings; roads are obstructed, water systems disrupted, and electrical infrastructure severely damaged. This level of devastation indicates not only immediate impact but also long-term disruption to urban functionality.
