From Iranian Comedy to a War Zone

Nouri’s filmography includes numerous comedic and popular productions.

His work with filmmakers such as Masoud Dehnamaki placed him in productions that themselves sometimes incorporated themes of war, Iranian political culture and social identity.

His appearance in Ekhraji-ha 3, for example, connected him to a franchise built around military and war-related themes.

He also appeared in Khosh-Rekab and Khosh-Gheyrat, productions connected to stories set during the Iran-Iraq War.

Therefore, the Iraq photographs did not emerge completely outside his professional background.

Nouri had already worked in Iranian productions where war and military themes were part of the narrative.

The difference was that the 2016 photographs placed him in an actual conflict environment rather than a fictional one.
