Ahmad Rezaei in Dubai

Dubai played an important role at both the beginning and the end of Ahmad Rezaei’s life outside Iran.

According to accounts of his biography, he had traveled through Dubai when leaving Iran for the United States in 1998.

More than a decade later, Dubai became the location where he died.

In November 2011, Ahmad Rezaei was staying at the Gloria Hotel in Dubai.

His body was discovered in his hotel room.

Reports identified the room as being on the 18th floor, with some accounts specifying room 23.

The discovery immediately generated questions.

Why was Ahmad Rezaei in Dubai?

Who had been communicating with him?

What had happened inside the hotel room?

Was his death a suicide?

Was it an accidental overdose?

Or had someone deliberately killed him and attempted to make the death appear to be suicide?

These questions have never been conclusively answered in the public record.
