Tara Aghdashloo’s Lavish Wedding Celebration at Carrières des Lumières
Film and Television
Tara’s foray into the world of film and television began with her roles as a journalist, director, and producer. She has collaborated with renowned media outlets such as Channel 4 News and BBC World, where her work has made a significant impact. Notable projects in this domain include “Value of Contemporary Art Riksdag,” “Ticket” documentary-series, and “City Map.”
A pioneering achievement in Tara’s career was her role as a founding co-host and producer on “Samte No,” the first Persian-speaking all-woman talk show, aired on Manoto TV channel. This groundbreaking show highlighted her commitment to amplifying the voices of women and promoting diversity in media.
In 2017, Tara took an independent path, producing and directing her debut feature documentary, “Chiaroscuro: Capturing My Father.” The film provided a unique insight into her personal journey and artistic exploration. It is worth noting that this venture was made possible with the support of organizations such as BFI Network, Canada Council of the Arts, and Toronto Arts Council.
Continuing her journey in the world of narrative filmmaking, Tara participated in Mohsen Makhmalbaf’s filmmaking workshop in 2020. This experience paved the way for her to write and direct her first narrative short, “The Ride,” which premiered at the Oscar Qualifying Cinequest Film Festival in California in March 2023.
Tara’s second narrative short, “Bridge,” commissioned by BBC Film and based on a spoken-word poem by Gemma Barnett, is currently in post-production, promising to be another powerful addition to her filmography.
