Shahram Abbasi, Fired in Iran and Relocates from Mashhad to Ontario: Continues for Academic Integrity at Western University
Shahram Abbasi Expelled Professor from Ferdowsi University of Mashhad has embarked on a new chapter in his academic career, moving from Mashhad, Iran, to Ontario, Canada, where he has joined Western University. Despite his expulsion from Ferdowsi University, Dr. Abbasi remains an unwavering advocate for academic integrity, honesty, and student dignity. His departure from Iran marks a significant transition, but his commitment to education and scientific research continues to flourish.
Dr. Shahram Abbasi, a physicist with a PhD from Ferdowsi University (2013), specializes in theoretical astrophysics, magnetohydrodynamics, and accretion disk modeling. His academic career took a sharp turn when he was expelled from Ferdowsi University without a chance to defend himself. In his farewell message to students, Shahram Abbasi, the expelled professor, emphasized, “Dear students, I have no hesitation in defending your dignity, and pressure and expulsion do not affect me.”
During his 18 years of service at Ferdowsi University, Abbasi upheld the principles of truth and scientific rigor, but he has expressed concerns about the university’s current state. He criticized its administration for allowing pseudo-science and nepotism to infiltrate the academic environment, diminishing its once-esteemed reputation. According to Abbasi, the university has been overtaken by inefficient and rent-seeking administrators who prioritize personal gain over genuine scholarship. Despite these obstacles, Abbasi remains optimistic and is fully immersed in research at Western University, where he continues to build on his expertise and academic contributions.
