Mojtaba Vahedi: Transformative Political Vision and the Power of Advocacy

Born in Qom and raised in Tehran, Vahedi completed his education at Alavi High School and graduated from Sharif University of Technology with a degree in petroleum process design. After the Iranian presidential election, he resigned from his position as the editor of Aftab Yazd in 2008 to prevent the newspaper from being seized. Currently residing in the United States, Vahedi continues to be an influential figure in Iranian politics.

Vahedi has been an active supporter of the Green Movement, advocating for the separation of religion from the government and embracing secularism. His involvement in protests, such as those on March 1, March 10, March 17, and March 24, 2019, reflects his commitment to challenging the existing political order.

In 2011, Vahedi distanced himself from Mehdi Karroubi and the Green Movement, citing differences in their perspectives on the nature of the Iranian government. He emphasized the need for a more inclusive organization, the National Congress, to unite various groups, organizations, and political activists in opposition to the government.
