Mojtaba Khamenei: The Potential Successor to Iran’s Supreme Leadership

It has always remained debatable whether or not Mojtaba will someday replace his father, who currently serves as Iran’s supreme leader, or play an active role in politics. After all, he has been accused of masterminding Ahmadinejad’s rise to power through election rigging during both those poll years, as well as orchestrating a violent crackdown against protestors while disputing electoral outcomes back in 2009. The claims about Mojtaba having control over substantial financial assets are also dismissed by some political parties based on certain grounds, though without disproving them completely.

Mojtaba Khemenie’s personal life, which includes being married to Zahra Haddad-Adel and having children, adds another touch to his personality, away from his professional life.

Hence, Mojtaba Khamenei’s role in Iranian politics, especially as a possible future Supreme Leader, remains an issue of public debate and speculation.
