In the wake of the 1979 Iranian Revolution, Mohsen Rafighdoost emerged as a critical military figure. He served as the chief of Ruhollah Khomeini’s security detail, demonstrating his loyalty and commitment to the Revolution. His most notable achievement was driving Khomeini from the Tehran international airport into the heart of the city, a moment described by Rafighdoost as “the most important day of his life.” As crowds welcomed Khomeini back to Iran, Rafighdoost’s actions helped solidify his role as a key protector of the new regime.

Rafighdoost was instrumental in establishing the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), a vital military force tasked with defending Iran’s theocratic government.
