Mohammad Reza Zahedi – Military Officer Killed in Damascus Strike: A Tragic Incident of 2024

Introduction

On April 1, 2024, the life of Brigadier General Mohammad Reza Zahedi, a prominent figure in the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), came to an end through a tragic airstrike in Damascus, Syria. He was born in Isfahan in 1944 and held various positions within the IRGC, commanding both the Air Force and the Ground Force. As a leading commander of the Quds Force, among others, Zahedi played a pivotal role in military operations.

This occurred on April 1st, 2024, when Zahedi’s life was cut short by an Israeli airstrike that targeted the embassy in Damascus. In addition to killing him, five more IRGC members died alongside two advisors during this strike.Zahedi’s death was reported by media and security sources, revealing that tensions between Israel and its adversaries were escalating. This not only severely affected their military but also worsened an ongoing proxy conflict happening across the Middle East.
